Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to use this website, with a mouse, keyboard, screen reader, magnification or their own settings. This page says what we aim for, what we have done and where the limits still are.
Our aim
We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, which the European standard EN 301 549 also builds on.
We checked the site ourselves: with the keyboard, with browser zoom, with the display settings below and with an automated testing tool (axe-core). There has been no third-party audit.
What we have done
The pages are built to be used with a keyboard and clearly show where the focus is. Headings, regions and image descriptions are marked up so that screen readers can structure the pages.
Text stands out strongly from its background; running text has a contrast ratio above 7:1.
The moving strip on the home page and every example that changes by itself can be stopped: with the button before the strip or below under “Adjust display”.
If your device asks for less motion or more contrast, the website follows that setting by itself.
Adjust display
Choose here how this website looks for you. Your choice applies on every page until you reset it. You can reach this page at any time through “Accessibility” at the very bottom of every page.
Make everything larger: press Ctrl and + (Mac: ⌘ and +).
Your choice is saved in this browser only.
What your browser can do
Your browser and device help on every website: press Ctrl and + (Mac: ⌘ and +) to zoom up to 400 per cent, and choose your own colours, fonts and less motion in the settings.
Known limits
The examples of apps and ads (such as Instagram, TikTok, Google or ChatGPT) are replicas in fixed frames the size of a phone screen. With very large text or wide spacing, text inside them can be cut off.
We have not yet tested the website thoroughly with screen readers.
External websites we link to, including projects for our clients, have their own operators. This statement covers bown.at.
